That's funny! I tried with the same picture about two weeks ago! Hehe. I ended up deciding I want to copy photos directly instead of drawings. Very lovely!

PS: Bravery may indeed be another form of intelligence, whereas the application of intelligence in certain scenarios is most certainly bravery. ;)

I completely agree! I actually found charcoal to be a lot more fun, versatile and easier with creating portraits, because it allows such beautiful blending and contrast. (I also found paint brushes to really help with blending and shading. Gorgeous results, especially with charcoal.) Staedtler erasers are also fantastic--I lost all of my puddy ones unfortunately--but I actually tend to like the Staedtler better.

I'm really, really new with pencil portraits and I can't wait to keep learning. :D Well, in general, I'm new to the entire art world. I've only really gotten into it within the past six months, but I've been doodling and drawing since I could hold a pencil. Well, I'm 14 anyway, I have time! Haha.

I forgot I even had that signature! I, once again, completely agree! ^_^

That is funny... I came across Carlos' tutorial online and hoped that I could learn something. I kept notes during the process and took photos along the way to compare his work with my own effort ... I noticed during the tutorial that he wasn't as clear as to which pencils to use, which caused me to use the wrong ones in certain spots... but my puddy eraser and trusty tortillion helped me out a little... this piece looks much better in person, I'm happy to say. Anyhow, I was really happy that Carlos took the time to post the tutorial... I would imagine that anyone who is trying their hand (pun intended) at photorealistic drawing might come across his work and give it a try. Thanks for commenting!

Thank you, Beautiful! The eyes and shading still need work, but that's why this is called 'practice'
