I absolutely adore my children... they light me up from the inside out!

Wanting to show the world what's in my heart, I decided to teach myself how to draw portraits so that I could begin drawing portraits of my beautiful children. I would love to go back through our family albums and draw some of the pictures that stole my heart ...

It is for this reason that I have embarked on the journey of teaching myself how to draw portraits...

Please feel free to share advice and tips with me if you think you can help me reach this goal...

Thank you for visiting my Deviant Art Page...

If you have a moment, please check out my daughter's page:

Have fun!

Today was the first day that I shared my own artwork here on DeviantArt.

I have long-since been a supporter of my daughter's artwork on this site as well as the artwork of other artists whom I've had the privilege of viewing.

I wish for everyone who has a passion for art to make the time to explore their talents, to explore new mediums, and to be bold enough to get their artwork out there in the art community. Having worked with galleries, museums, and private collectors in a related field (conservation, preservation, restoration), I would like everyone to know that while it's true that only a small percentage of artists fetch high prices at auction and are presented in exhibitions and showings; a talented, passionate, tenacious artist can indeed break into the field by building a following, contacting dealers, and hitting the pavement until they find an agent or gallery willing to showcase their work. Like with any field, becoming successful is a lot of work - which isn't always the same energy one uses when creating a piece of artwork.

The reason I mention this today is because I was a "leftie" who crushed their wrist long ago in a gymnastics accident, which required me to switch to my right-hand. While I've always loved drawing, color has been an issue for me because technically I am colorblind - I paint by "feel". Despite these challenges, in less than one month of sharing my art I began receiving commissions for more artwork. Some sales came from my Facebook account, some sales came from friends and friends of friends, and other sales came from just walking into a gallery and showing my work.

Be bold, be courageous, and in addition to DeviantArt and many other online sites for marketing your art, do not fail to recognize that art is just as much about people as it is about paint. Make connections, ask friends and family to share your work, and if you have to, hang up copies of your own unique style and brand of artwork on telephone poles and anything else you can think of so people can begin to recognize your work.

At the present time, I own an environmental firm that specializes in preserving critical environments (pharmaceutical manufacturing, nuclear facilities, food processing, semi-conductor, art preservation, etc.). However, I have plans to open my own gallery here in Paris... while I have ZERO interest in 'mature content' artwork, I welcome anyone to contact me who would like to know more about my professional plans and how your work might fit in. In the meantime, please feel free to share with me... I'll gladly support your work on Facebook, on my blogs, and once my own dream of opening a gallery comes to fruition, in my gallery. I believe every artist deserves their shot of having their artwork seen!

As much as I enjoy creating my own artwork, I also enjoy sharing the artwork of others and supporting them on their own journey into art....

Best wishes to everyone ....
